Welcome to Teliani Valley’s Wine People project. Here we celebrate the rich tradition and craft of Georgian winemaking. Our goal is to bring you rare, handcrafted wines from small, independent winemakers throughout Georgia. We unite their unique stories and exceptional wines under one inspiring collection.

Unique Collaboration

Teliani Valley, a well-established wine producer in Georgia, works with small family farms. These winemakers often do not have the resources to bottle and sell their wines independently. This collaboration gives them the visibility they deserve and allows them to expand their activities. Each bottle of Wine People shows the dedication and passion of these artisans.

Thematic Collections

Each year, the Wine People project introduces a new collection with a unique theme. In doing so, we showcase the diversity and richness of Georgian viticulture:

• Created in Bolnisi: This collection, launched in 2020, features wines from Bolnisi. This area has an 8,000-year-old viticultural history.
• Created by Women Winemakers: The second edition celebrates the contributions of women winemakers. Each bottle tells their story.
• Georgian Rare: The third collection focuses on rare and nearly forgotten grape varieties. In doing so, we preserve Georgia’s viticultural heritage.
• My First Vintage: The latest collection introduces wines from winemakers producing their first independent harvests. Their passion and innovation are key.

Revival of Rare Grape Varieties

Georgia has more than 500 indigenous grape varieties. Many of these species were almost lost during the Soviet era. The Wine People project aims to revive these rare grapes, such as Tetra, Kundza and Tavkveri. We support small vineyards and promote these unique varieties. This is how we preserve Georgia’s rich viticultural heritage for future generations.

Craft Excellence

All wines in the Wine People collections are made using traditional methods, such as fermentation in qvevri’s. These are large earthenware vessels buried underground. The wines are bottled unfiltered and unclarified. Thus, they retain their natural character and unique terroir. Each bottle is a limited edition and hand-numbered. Some wines are so exclusive that fewer than 250 bottles of them are bottled. These wines are true gems.

Meet the Winemakers

Each bottle of Wine People introduces a winemaker and tells his or her story. For example, the “My First Vintage” collection includes wines by Giorgi Cherkezishvili and Guga Akhaladze. Giorgi comes from a family with deep roots in winemaking. Guga made the transition from the club scene in Tbilisi to the serene world of winemaking.
